Log every trade, then let the numbers talk. Win rate, profit factor, expectancy, R multiple and drawdown, broken down by strategy, session and setup, so you can see which parts of your process actually work and which only feel like they do.

// HOW PATTERNS SURFACE

Your edge shows up in the aggregate, not in one trade.

Once enough trades are logged, the ledger shows which setup carries your highest average R, so you can concentrate on what actually pays rather than what felt good.

The goal is not to predict. It is to execute an edge without hesitation.

// RISK RADAR

OVERTRADING

Frequency is worth watching. Set the trade count you consider sustainable for a session and hold to it, because overtrading rarely announces itself while it is happening.

// LIVE MARKET DATA

Instrument snapshot

Live prices for the instruments this journal supports, refreshed on the server every two minutes. These are reference prices for context, not broker quotes, and never a recommendation to trade.

// SYSTEM CAPABILITIES

Built for repeatable execution

freetradeledger.com is a journal, not a signal service. It records what you did, scores how well you followed your own rules, and shows you where your edge actually lives.

01 / LEDGER

Full execution log

Capture asset, direction, setup, entry, exit, stop size, R multiple and profit or loss on every trade. Filter the ledger by wins or losses to isolate a pattern.

02 / EVIDENCE

Screenshot attachments

Attach a chart image to any execution. Your reasoning at the moment of entry is the part memory rewrites first, so the screenshot is the record that survives.

03 / PROTOCOL

Pre-market checklist

Six checks to work through before the session opens: bias defined, risk limit set, confirmation timeframe chosen, screenshots ready, review scheduled and macro conditions assessed.

04 / STATE

Mindset logging

Mark each session calm, focused, anxious or driven by fear of missing out, then write your intention. Emotional state is a variable, so it belongs in the data.

05 / LIMITS

Risk guardrails

Set a daily loss limit and a per trade risk between 0.5 and 10 percent. The numbers stay visible while you work, which is the point of writing them down.

06 / VAULT

Local only storage

Your trades live in your browser on this device. No account, no upload, no one else can read them. Export a CSV whenever you want your records somewhere else.

// READING YOUR NUMBERS

What each metric is telling you

Four numbers describe the health of a trading system. Each one fails in a different way, which is why no single figure is enough on its own.

Net profit and loss
OutcomeTotal money gained or lost. The number everyone watches, and the one most distorted by a single lucky trade.
Win rate
FrequencyHow often you win. High win rates mean nothing if the losses are larger than the wins.
Profit factor
EfficiencyGross profit divided by gross loss. Above 1.0 is profitable, above 2.0 is strong. Harder to fake than win rate.
Max drawdown
SurvivalThe deepest fall from a peak. This is the number that decides whether you are still trading next year.

// DAILY LOOP

The four step session

The journal is designed around a repeating cycle. Skipping a step is itself information worth recording.

Prepare

Work the checklist before the session opens. Define bias and levels, set your risk limit, and pick the timeframe you will take confirmation from.

Execute

Log each trade as it closes, while the reasoning is still fresh. Attach the chart. Record the R multiple, not just the cash result.

Score

Rate your process from 0 to 100 on how well you followed the plan. A losing trade taken correctly scores higher than a winner taken on impulse.

Review

After the close, read the ledger back. Filter to losses and look for the repeated setup. Patterns show up in the aggregate, never in a single trade.

// TERMINOLOGY

Journal glossary

Plain definitions for the terms used across the interface.

R multiple
The result of a trade expressed in units of the risk you took. Risking 100 and making 280 is 2.8R. Measuring in R makes trades of different sizes directly comparable.
Profit factor
Gross profit divided by gross loss. A value of 2.34 means you earned 2.34 for every 1.00 lost. Below 1.0 the system loses money over time.
Process score
A self rating from 0 to 100 on rule adherence, kept deliberately separate from profit. Outcome is partly luck, process is entirely yours.
Max drawdown
The largest percentage fall from a previous equity peak. It measures the worst stretch you had to sit through, which is what actually ends most trading careers.
Liquidity sweep
Price pushing through an obvious level to trigger resting orders before reversing. One of the setups available when logging a trade.
Discipline streak
Consecutive sessions where every checklist gate was completed. Streaks reward consistency rather than results.

// QUESTIONS

Common questions

Where is my trading data stored?

Entirely in your own browser, using local storage on the device you are using. Your trades, screenshots and profile are never uploaded, there is no account, and no one else can read your ledger. The page does request one file of market prices from this site's own server so the instrument snapshot stays current, and that request carries none of your data. Clearing your browser data will erase the ledger, so export a CSV if you want a durable copy.

Does freetradeledger.com connect to my broker?

No. There is no broker integration and no API key to hand over. Trades are entered manually, which is deliberate: writing the entry by hand is part of the review process.

Can I get my data out?

Yes. The export option in the trade panel produces a CSV of your execution log that opens in any spreadsheet application.

What does the process score actually measure?

How closely you followed your own plan, scored from 0 to 100 and recorded separately from profit. A losing trade executed exactly to plan should score highly, and a profitable trade taken on impulse should not.

Which markets does it support?

Indices, metals, foreign exchange and crypto are preset, including NAS100, US30, SPX500, XAUUSD, EURUSD, GBPJPY and BTCUSD. R multiple tracking works for any instrument because it measures risk rather than currency.

Why record my emotional state?

Because it predicts behaviour. Trades taken while anxious or chasing a move tend to cluster around your worst outcomes, and that link is only visible once the state is logged alongside the result.

Can I attach chart screenshots?

Yes. Any execution accepts a PNG, JPEG or WebP image, so the chart you were looking at is stored with the trade rather than left to memory.

Is this financial advice?

No. freetradeledger.com is a record keeping and self review tool. It does not generate signals, recommend positions or provide investment advice of any kind.
